Yves Cartuyvels is Ordinary Professor at the Faculty of Law at the University Saint-Louis- Brussels. He was Visiting Professor at the School of Criminology of the University of Leuven Belgium (septembre 2012-januari 2013) and at the School of Criminology of the University of Sydney, Australia, (september 2011 - december 2011). Currently, he is co-director, with Ch. Guillain et M. van de Kerchove, of the Belgian partnership to the European project « Prison overcrowding and alternatives to detention », European Commission, Directorate Justice, Just/2013/ Action Grants, 2014-2016. He participates and has participated in numerous research projects, some of which in parteneship with several African countries. Among the various positions, he was also director of the post-doctoral research from Xavier de Larminat, The post-sentencial trajectories of delinquants and the role of probation officers : between risk of recidive and rehabilitation ideal, Programme Fonds Spéciaux de Recherche, Académie Louvain, (FSR, 2013-2015). He is also a member of the editorial Board of the European peer reviewed « Déviance et Société », of the European peer reviewed “Beccaria. Revue d’Histoire du droit de punir”, of the Belgian peer reviewed « Revue de droit pénal et de criminologie » and of the Belgian peer reviewed Revue Interdisciplinaire d’Etudes Juridiques. Droit en contexte » (RIEJ). His actual research interests are: Theoretical Criminology ; Penal Philosophy ; Youth Justice ; Dangerousness ; Social Defense. |
