GIAN LUIGI GATTA - PROFESSOR OF CRIMINAL LAW - DIRECTOR OF THE RESARCH UNIT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MILAN
Gian Luigi Gatta is  professor of criminal law at the University of Milan. Born in Milan, in 1975, he obtained his degree in Law at the University of Milan, with full marks and honors, defending a thesis under the supervision of prof. Giorgio Marinucci. After the degree he started the collaboration with the Department of Criminal Law of the same University and, at the same time, he worked by a law firm in Milan. In 2004 he became lawyer at the Court of Appeal of Milan. He began his academic career in 2005, as a research fellow in the Faculty of Law of the University of Milan. From november 2011 he serves as an associate professor of criminal law at the University of Milan. 
Prof. Gatta is author of the books “Abolitio criminis e successione di norme “integratrici”: teoria e prassi”, Milan, Giuffrè, 2008 (pp. 976); "La minaccia. Contributo allo studio delle modalità della condotta penalmente rilevante", Roma, Aracne, 2013 (pp. 313) and of several papers on topics of general and special part of criminal law, published in major journals (Rivista italiana di diritto e procedura penale; Diritto penale e processo; Cassazione penale; Giurisprudenza costituzionale).
He has been speaker at numerous conferences and seminars organized by Italian universities, as well at workshops organized by the Consiglio Superiore della Magistratura (C.S.M.) and lawyers’ associations. Prof. Gatta is coordinator of the annotated criminal code edited by professors E. Dolcini and G. Marinucci (Ipsoa, 2011). He is deputy director of the online journal Diritto penale contemporaneo (www.penalecontemporaneo.it) and - since 2012 – is responsible of the editorial staff of the review “Rivista italiana di diritto e procedura penale”.
