Angela Della Bella is Assistant Professor (‘ricercatore confermato’) at the University of Milano. She obtained her degree in Law at the University of Milano, with full marks and honors, defending a thesis under the supervision of prof. Emilio Dolcini. After the degree, she has been attending the “Scuola di specializzazione per le professioni forensi”, becaming lawyer in 2001 at The Court of Appeal of Milano. At the same time, she started the collaboration with the Department of Criminal Law of the University of Milano, getting a PhD in Italian and comparative criminal law, at the Law School of Pavia, in 2003. From 2003 to 2005 she worked as Research fellow, until, in 2006, she became Assistant Professor of Criminal Law. She cooperates in teaching activities in criminal law courses, organization of seminars, tutoring students, member of board of exams and graduation thesis commissions. Since 2009, she teaches Prison Law, holding a course on prison treatment of organized crime. During the a.y, 2012-2013, she held a course, within the Criminal Law Doctorate School of the University of Milano, about italian sanctions system (“La pena nell’attuale realtà ordinamentale italiana”). Since 2013, she holds a course on “principio di colpevolezza” (criminal law). Dott. ssa Della Bella is author of two books on the system of sanctions: “Emergenza carcere e sistema penale. I decreti legge del 2013 e la sentenza della Corte cost. n. 32/2014, Giappichelli, 2014” and “Il regime detentivo del 41 bis o.p.: quale prevenzione speciale per gli autori della criminalità organizzata?”, Milano, Giuffrè, 2012. She is author of several papers on topics of general and special part of criminal law, published in major journals (Rivista italiana di diritto e procedura penale; Diritto penale e processo; Cassazione penale; Diritto penale contemporaneo). She has been speaker at numerous conferences and seminars organized by Italian universities and lawyers’ associations. She has been named member of the Legal Secretary Office of two Ministerial Commissions, established to submit a proposal for a legislative act: the first one on decriminalitation (Commissione per la revisione del sistema penale attraverso l'introduzione di norme di depenalizzazione, gennaio-aprile 2013); the second one on the system of sanctions (Commissione in tema di sistema sanzionatorio penale, giugno-dicembre 2013). Since 2010, she is on the Board of editors of the online journal Diritto penale contemporaneo (www.penalecontemporaneo.it) and, since 2013,.of the online journal Immigrazione.it (www.immigrazione.it).
